High Gear Training in Diesel

San Diego Miramar College will prepare you for employment as a diesel technician and introduce you to alternative fuels, quality workmanship, safety procedures, proper work attitudes, theory or operation, and repair of all major vehicle components.

You will learn about:

• disassembly, assembly and dynamometer testing of the most popular types of truck, marine and heavy equipment diesel engines
• fuel injection systems
• heavy duty transmissions and clutches, drive axles, air brakes, suspension, electronics, electrical, and hydraulics
• failure analysis and troubleshooting

Our programs provide students with hands on training  to supplement the classroom education.  This hands on training gives the technician the skills necessary to excel in the real world shop environment.   The employment rate for Miramar graduates is over 90%, filling a critical shortage of diesel technicians in the region.
